It is very important that whatever you do you should be passionate about it. Passionate doesn’t mean being crazy about something. It means that you have an inspiration, a motivation and, above all, patience for that thing. It means that even if you don’t get anything out of it you will never give it up. I have came across a lot of people in my professional as well as private life who want to do things that they are not passionate about. And sometimes it hits me so hard that I start to question- Why you want to do it? And they have a very dumb answer – “To get recognition among my peers.”

It is very important for you to have a personal liking to do something meaningful. Recently a friend came to me and asked me to teach him photography. I knew he was not into photography, moreover he never wanted to do photography. It was after he saw my pictures that he said “Wow! These are great pictures. I too want to click like you.” Now, I am a pretty bad photographer. Secondly, I was wondering why he wanted to learn something that he is not interested in. I asked if he is willing to think about it all the time? I asked if his peers didn’t recognize him as a good photographer what he will do? And quite honestly that is a ridiculous reason to do something.

Why I am stressing on being passionate? You can still do things that you are not passionate about. Well, yeah you can but then we will be missing one great point from our life. Most of us don’t think about it but it is very important to add value to our life, to our personality, to our character and moreover to the world. If you doing things that you are not passionate about I can bet you that you will either not be successful in it or you will never be happy doing it. And I really doubt that someone can get past through the former one.

Successful people are passionate. What they do they do with passion. And they do what they want to. They don’t do things because of others. They have their own way. They have their own decisions. If you are doing things that you are not passionate about sooner or later you will get bored of them. You will start feeling a burden to do that thing. And it nature’s simple rule. You cannot be successful in doing something that you don’t like. So, don’t do things that you don’t like. Do what you like. Add value to your own life. Add value to the people around you by setting examples. Remember, successful people only got successful in what they were passionate about. And so will you.
